    Jean-Christophe Bernhard MD, PhD, full professor of Urology at Bordeaux University, is the Director of the Kidney cancer and the Robotic surgery programs at the University Hospital of Bordeaux, France. Permanently appointed in 2025 as Visiting Professor of Juntendo University, Tokyo, Japan. After completion of his medical degree he pursued residency and Clinical Fellowship at the University of Bordeaux and post-doctoral fellowship at The Norris Cancer Center – Institute of Urology in Los Angeles, USA. His research areas of interest include conservative robotic kidney cancer surgery, virtual navigation, 3D pre-operative models for surgical planning and simulation, AI, Telehealth and biomarkers for kidney cancer. He is the founder and Director of the national Databank and French research network on Kidney Cancer UroCCR ( www.uroccr.fr ), certified by the French National Cancer Institute (INCa), the High Health Authority (HAS) and French National Research Agency (ANR). He is the Director of the integrated research and innovation program on kidney cancer, I.CaRe Bordeaux (www.icare-bordeaux.fr). Among multiple national grants, he has been laureate in 2022, 2023 and 2024 of the national programme of investments for the future, France 2030 and funded with over €14 Millions. He is the founder and Director of the Robotic Training Center of Bordeaux (University of Bordeaux). He leads the Kidney Cancer translational biology team (I.CaRe) of the Inserm U1312 unit BRIC (BoRdeaux Institute of OnCology) (https://www.bricbordeaux.com/en/bric-team/equipe-emergente-i-care-programme-integre-de-recherche-innovation-sur-le-cancer-du-rein/). He is a board member of the European Robotic Urology Section of the EAU (ERUS) and of the EAU Section of Oncological Urology (ESOU). He founded and coordinates the Fund for Research and Innovation in renal surgery ( www.chirurgie-renale-bordeaux.fr ) with an associated Youtube channel @chirurgie-renale-bordeaux.
