Professor Rajeev T P holds tenure as the Professor and Head, Department of Urology, Gauhati Medical College, Assam, India
He undertook his Medical training (MBBS) and Post Graduation in General Surgery at the same Medical College before specializing in Urology (Master in Chirurgiae-M.Ch) at the premier All-India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India. He was the recipient of the Gold Medal for M.Ch ( Urology ) from All-India Institute of Medical Sciences.
Professor Rajeev has undertaken Fellowship in Endourology, Laparoscopic and Robotic Urology at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, USA where he is also a Visiting Professor.
He is a Supervisor for specialist training in Urology leading to the M.Ch / DNB Urology in various centers in India. He is examiner for M.Ch and DNB Urology across various Universities in India.
He holds senior positions for the Government of India, Medical Council of India and the National Board of Examinations, for assessing Urology services in various centers and helping bench marking training quality for Urology in India.
He played a major role in helping develop the framework for the Government of India’s Ayushman Bharat Scheme (for Urology), thereby improving access to specialist Urological health care for patients below poverty line. This program helped bridge the divide between accessibility to healthcare balancing with the availability and provision of healthcare
He is an innovator believing in using technology and low-cost modifications to help improve health care delivery
He was instrumental in forming the Youth Wing of USI during his tenure as Secretary
He has published over 130 peer reviewed articles and an invited Speaker to more than 15 International organizations. He is the past President, USI and Scientific Co Chair, SIU. He is currently Secretary General , South Asian Association of Urological Surgeons
Above all, he is a well known cricketer
