This hands-on workshop course is intended for the urologist who wants to gain knowledge on and develop fundamental laparoscopic skills. Participants will use a laparoscopic trainer to become familiar with laparoscopic equipment and practice basic dexterity using laparoscopic instrumentation. Over this 120-minute session, participants will take part in hands-on tasks of increasing difficulty and complexity to develop the basic motor skills required for laparoscopic surgery.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this session, attendees should be able to:

Identify constituents of a laparoscopic stack.
Name commonly used laparoscopic instruments.
Carry out basic laparoscopic exercises using a laparoscopic trainer.
Develop basic motor skills for laparoscopic suturing, including: coordinating proper needle angle and movement, placing the trocars to facilitate the suture, suturing in different planes, and practicing knotting technique.
