Professor Alessandro Antonelli – Summary
Professor Alessandro Antonelli is Full Professor of Urology at the University of Verona and Head of the Department of Urology at the Verona University Hospital. He also serves as Director of the Department of Surgery and Oncology and Director of the Renal Transplantation Unit.
He graduated in Medicine and completed his residency in Urology with highest honors (cum laude) at the University of Brescia. He further trained at internationally renowned centers, including the University Hospital of Halle (Germany) and the Karolinska Institute (Sweden), specializing in advanced laparoscopic and robotic urologic surgery.
With more than 20 years of surgical experience, he has personally performed over 3,000 major urologic procedures, with particular expertise in robotic surgery for kidney, prostate, and bladder cancer, and recently living donor nephrectomy and robotic transplantation. As well, he promotes advanced minimally invasive treatment of benign urologic conditions.
He has authored more than 500 PubMed-indexed scientific publications and has an H-index of 44, placing him among the leading international researchers in urology.
He serves on the Executive Board of the Italian Society of Urology.
Alongside his clinical and research activities, he is Director of the Urology Residency Program at the University of Verona, where he is actively involved in the education and training of the next generation of urologists.
