Oliver is a Consultant Urologist based at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge where his main interests are in the management of urinary stone disease and the treatment of men with infertility.
He specialises in the treatment of kidney stones, including use of the different lasers to treat kidney stones, the metabolic investigation of patients with kidney stones, and in the minimally invasive management of patients with upper tract transitional cell cancer (TCC). As part of his interest in the management of male infertility, he works together with Bourn Hall Clinic, the world famous infertility clinic, and Cambridge IVF, to offer men with fertility problems appropriate treatment. He was the first person in the East of England to undertake microTESE (microsurgical testicular sperm extraction) for men with non-obstructive azoospermia.
Oliver has been a Trustee of The British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS), is a previous treasurer of BAUS, an ex-council member of BAUS, has been on BAUS Section of Endourology, and a Committee member of The BAUS Research and Audit Committee. He is a member of the BAUS Sections of Endourology and Andrology and was the treasurer and on the organising committee for the World Congress of Endourology which was held in London in 2015. More recently he has been on the Awards Committee of the EndoUrological Society, the largest global society dedicated to endourology and stone disease, and is also a board member of the European Association of Urology Endourology Section. In 2017 he was awarded the Karl Storz Harold Hopkins Golden telescope by BAUS, an award which recognises excellence in young urologists. He has also been awarded the BAUS Karl Storz Silver Cystoscope, which recognises excellence in training and teaching other urologists.
