Dr. Tim Brits, MD, FEBU, Consultant Urologist, University Hospital Antwerp (UZA), Belgium, is a female, reconstructive and functional urologist with a special interest in female pelvic medicine, robotic surgery, and lower urinary tract dysfunction.
He obtained his medical degree and specialist training in urology at the University of Antwerp. He is board-certified by the European Board of Urology (FEBU) and currently serves as a consultant urologist at the University Hospital Antwerp.
Dr. Brits' clinical practice focuses on reconstructive urology, pelvic floor disorders, urinary incontinence, benign prostatic obstruction, and neuromodulation. He has a particular interest in advancing minimally invasive and robotic approaches to functional- and reconstructive surgery.
Alongside his clinical work, Dr. Brits is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Antwerp, where his research focuses on benign prostatic obstruction, investigating how differences in prostate morphology influence treatment selection and therapeutic outcomes.
His broader research interests include reconstructive and functional urology, neuromodulation, and robotic surgery.
Dr. Brits is a frequent invited speaker at national and international meetings and regularly teaches on pelvic floor physiology, reconstructive urology, and robotic surgery. He is an active member of the multidisciplinary pelvic floor and urogynecology team at the University Hospital Antwerp, which was recently awarded the IUGA Fellowship Development Mentorship Award.
He currently serves as board member and treasurer of the Belgian Association of Urology Working Group on Functional Urology.
His research and educational activities are driven by a commitment to improving patient outcomes through innovation, multidisciplinary collaboration, and evidence-based surgical practice.
