Sia Daneshmand is Professor of Urology and Medicine (Oncology) with Clinical Scholar designation at the University of Southern California. He serves as Director of Urologic Oncology and Fellowship Director for the Society of Urologic Oncology. His clinical expertise focuses on bladder cancer, testicular cancer, and advanced kidney cancer.
Dr. Daneshmand is internationally recognized for his expertise in complex germ cell tumors and nerve-sparing retroperitoneal lymph node dissection (RPLND) following chemotherapy for advanced testicular cancer. He is among the highest-volume surgeons in the nation for these procedures. His research interests include optimizing perioperative outcomes following radical cystectomy and post-chemotherapy RPLND, integrating molecular and serum biomarkers into clinical care, and advancing novel technologies in the diagnosis and treatment of bladder and testicular cancers. He has also contributed extensively to the study of functional outcomes after orthotopic urinary diversion.
Dr. Daneshmand has served on the American Urological Association Guidelines Panels for both non-muscle invasive bladder cancer and testicular cancer. He is Chair of the Bladder Cancer Section of the Society of Urologic Oncology Clinical Trials Consortium, co-chair of localized bladder section of SWOG and co-chair of the NCI designated GU Steering committee's bladder cancer task force. He has served on the scientific steering committees of multiple national and international bladder cancer trials. He has led numerous clinical trials in bladder cancer and is principal investigator of the multi-institutional SEMS and MAGESTIC trials in testicular cancer.
Currently President of the Western Section of the AUA and a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, Dr. Daneshmand has been recognized among “America’s Top Cancer Doctors” for 15 consecutive years. He has authored more than 450 peer-reviewed publications and has presented over 550 scientific abstracts worldwide.
