Wattanachai Ratanapornsompong, MD, Assistant Professor of Urology, Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, Thailand, is a reconstructive urologist with specialized expertise in urethral, ureteral, and robotic reconstructive surgery.
Dr. Ratanapornsompong completed his urology training at Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, and currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Urology. He further advanced his training through an international fellowship pathway, including a Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgery (GURS) Research Fellowship at NYU Langone Health in New York under the mentorship of Dr. Lee C. Zhao, followed by a Clinical Fellowship in Reconstructive Urology at the Kulkarni Reconstructive Urology Center (UROKUL) in Pune, India, under the guidance of Dr. Sanjay Kulkarni and Dr. Pankaj Joshi.
His clinical and academic interests focus on urethral reconstruction, pelvic fracture urethral injuries, complex ureteral reconstruction, female urethral stricture disease, urinary diversion complications, and robotic reconstructive surgery. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and has presented his work at major international meetings, including the American Urological Association (AUA), Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons (GURS), and other global urological conferences.
Dr. Ratanapornsompong's research has explored novel applications of robotic surgery in reconstructive urology, outcomes of urethroplasty, ureteral reconstruction, and functional recovery following complex genitourinary reconstruction. His work aims to improve surgical outcomes and expand access to advanced reconstructive techniques through innovation, collaboration, and education.
Passionate about international collaboration and surgical education, Dr. Ratanapornsompong is actively involved in training residents, fellows, and reconstructive urologists worldwide. He remains committed to advancing the field of reconstructive urology through clinical excellence, research, and mentorship.
