    Vincenzo Ficarra

    Prof. Vincenzo Ficarra was born in October the 2nd 1969, in Messina (Italy). From May 2017 he is full professor and Director of Urologic department of University of Messina, Italy. From 2021 he is director of Oncologic Department of AOU “G. Martino” of Messina. From 2021 he is the Director of Residency Program in Urology, University of Messina. From 2022, he is the Director of Department of Oncology of AOU G. Martino hospital in Messina. He performed as first surgeon more than 2.000 robotic procedures, 3.277 open procedures and 4.483 endoscopic or endourological major procedures. He is an expert surgeon in the field of prostate, bladder and kidney cancers.
    Prof. Ficarra is member of EAU (European Association of Urology) and SIU (Società Italiana di Urologia, i.e. Italian Association of Urology).
    From 2021 to 2025, Prof Ficarra was the Chief of Scientific Committee of Italian Society of Urologu (SIU). From 2024 he is member of Board of Directors of International SIU (Societè International d’Urology).
    International awards
    • In 2007, he was selected as the reviewer of the year for European Urology.
    • In 2008, he was the winner of the Crystal Matula Award
    • In 2010, he was the winner for the best paper published in European Urology journal.
    • In 2019 received a mention from Ordine dei Medici di Messina as Innovator in the field of Robotic Surgery.
    • In 2020, he was the winner of the “Premio Bracci” assigned by Italian Society of Urology, for the best Italian paper published in a International Journal in the 2019.
    Prof. Ficarra is author of 514 papers published on international journals indexed in Medline and 544 papers indexed in Scopus. His current citation index is 29.944. The h index is 85.
