Consultant Urologist and Honorary Reader in Urology

Ben Ayres is a consultant urologist and deputy chief medical officer at St. George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and a Honorary Reader in Urology at City St George's. He is academic lead for Surgery and the Final Year at City St George's medical school. His subspecialist interests include penile cancer, bladder cancer, research and medical education.
Ben is involved in NIHR clinical research trials and is a member of the European Association of Urology / American Society of Clinical Oncology penile cancer guidelines panel. He has published and presented his research widely, has been an invited expert to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence and is a reviewer for the NHS Innovation accelerator programme. Other roles include national clinical co-lead for Urology for Getting It Right First Time at NHS England, British Association of Urological Surgeons section of oncology committee member and course director for Royal College of Surgeons of England teaching and simulation courses.
