Transperineal Prostate Biopsy workshop module (1.5h - 13:30 to 15:00)

This course will provide an in-depth overview of the basic principles of multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) of the prostate. Through expert-led sessions, attendees will be able to gain comprehensive understanding of the role of prostate mpMRI using real life MRI sequences. Subsequently, the faculty will review the latest techniques and best practices for performing transperineal prostate biopsies, current MR and ultrasound (US) imaging technologies, and workflow integration. The hands-on training component will provide practical experience in various equipment and technologies for MRI-US fusion biopsy.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this session, attendees should be able to:

Describe the basic principles of mpMRI of the prostate.
Develop a basic foundation for interpreting multiparametric MR images of the prostate.
Reason the use transperineal over transrectal techniques
Implement a standardised transperineal prostate biopsy workflow
Perform the steps of MR and US image-guided transperineal biopsies using various dedicated workstations.
Implement an MRI-US fusion biopsy program in their routine practice.
